Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple
Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple is situated in the hillock of Thiruparankundram. This is considered to be the first among the six army abodes of lord Muruga. This sthala has the main deity. Sthalam and temple pond. Thiruparankundram found an important place among the most famous 275 thevara sthalams. It is situated 1050 feet above sea level.
This sthala is known as Thiruparangiri, Sumanthavanam, Paraasalathalam kumari puri Vittanuthuruvam, Kanthamadhanam, Kanthamalai, Sathyagiri, Thenparangundram, Thanparangundram, Swaminathapuram and mutharpadaiveedu
Thirupparankundram Murugan Temple History
Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy temple is situated in Thiruparankundram which is one of the 6 abodes of lord Muruga Sangam treat like Paripadal, Thirumurugatrupadai and Madurai Kanchi praise this ancient Temple. From that, Saiva samayakuravas Thirugnana Sambhandhar, Sundarar, and Manikkavasakar have also sung praise songs on the temple. The temple was a rock-cut temple. This temple originated as the Kudaivari temple during the period of Earlier Pandya Kings and flourished during the period of later Pandya Kings. During the Nayak period, it flourished with Mandapas and Gopurams. The Nedinjadayan Paranthakan era copper plates, who ruled with the title Sadayavarman (765-815 AD), are available in the London British Museum and Chennai museum. This is the message given by the vatteluttu inscription on the square part of the Arthamandapa pillar. This vatteluttu inscription is dated in the 6th year of Maranchadaiyan.
Thala Puranam
This Thiruthalam is one of the 14 Pandyan shrines and is a Kudavara temple. In this Temple, Sri Vinayagar Sri Sathyagirisvarar, Sri Pavalakhanivai Perumal and Sri Subrmaniya are housed in the main shrine and bless. A person who got money from some person who guided a poor man to get money from that person is called Aatrupadai, like that to get blessings from God our ancestors guided us.
In this Murugatrupadai book mentions 6 temples of lord Muruga called Arupadai Veedu. Thiruparankundram is the first one among the 6 temples. This temple is prasied by Thirugnanasamanthar and Sundaramoorthy Nayanar. Sri sathyagireeswarar is worshipped by Saint Parasarar and Vedaviyasar. In the main shrine, Satyagireeswarar is facing East facing, Pavalakhanivai Perumal with Mahalakshmi on towards the west, on towards the north Karapga Vinayagar sitting on the lotus with sugarcane and modakam in his hands and Vishnu Durgai facing North with Sangu and Chakra in her hands standing as Mahisasuramarthini. To kill Surabadma, Muruga went with 9 soldiers including Veera Bagu, andabharanar and Ukkiramoorthi and got Sakthivel from Parvathi. He destroyed Surabhadman on Sasti day and released Devas.
After marriage Murugan graces in a sitting wedding form with his concert Deivanai. This darshan is very special. All the deities in this wedding place look happy and this darshan is rare. Nakkirar, Sun, Moon, Gayathiri, Savithri, Siddhavidhyadharar, Kalaimagal, Brahman Indiran Mathanga munivar, Guga munivar came to the marriage of Murugan with deivanai is a ritual faith. All these deities are present in the main shrine of Murugan and the devotees are Graced by worshipping them.
It is a rare Darshan. In this Temple Satyagreeswara and Pavalakhanivai Perumal looking each other in the opposite direction reveals the unity of Saivam and Vaina samayangal. Puranam says Lord Muruga worshipped in the hill which appears Lord Linga Swarupam. So thousands of devotees travel around the hill on full moon day. Ambal made thavam to get rid of Brahmagathi dhosam after killing mahishan and get relief from the Brahmagathi Dosham. Vinayagar is worshipped by Brahma and it is the most auspicious place for marriage and child birth.
It records the reconstruction of the Thirukovil and of the Sree thadagam by Sattan Ganapathi, a resident of karavanthapura who is called Pandi Amritamangalavariyan, and it stated to have belonged to the Vaidya caste and to have been the Maha Samanta of the king. The shrines of Durga Devi and Jyeshtha Devi were constructed by Nakkan Kotri, who is described as the dharmapatni probably of this mahasamantha. The compound wall and main entrance tower were completed in response to Veerappa nayakar at the saga year 1505 AD. In 1659 AD Thirumalai Nayakar erected an idol of himself and two of his wives as if he had always worshiped Lord Murugan. Thirukalyana Mandapam alias Thiruvachi Mandapam were built during the Nayaka period. The Asthana Mandapam also has 48 beautiful pillars with sculptures built during the reign of Rani Mangammal.
